MISSION INDRADHANUSH (Health)

• Aims to achieve full immunization of at least 90% children by 2020 

• Full immunization covers to missed out and left out children and pregnant women during routine immunization rounds, against 7 life threatening diseases. 

·         More than 2.1 crore children and around 56 lakh pregnant women have been immunized under Mission Indradhanush which was launched to reach the unreached.

·         Around 60 lakh Vitamin A doses have been distributed along with 52 lakh ORS packets and 1.8 crore Zinc tablets.

·         From 1% annual increase in coverage of Full Immunization, Mission Indradhanush has resulted in a  6.7% annual expansion in the immunization coverage as per the report of Integrated Child Health & Immunization Survey (INCHIS).

·         Mission Indradhanush has been launched in 2014-15 to reach out to the children where routine vaccination cannot be reached out. The objective of Mission Indradhanush is to increase full immunization coverage in India to at least 90% children by 2020.

·         Three phases of Mission Indradhanush have been completed in which 497 districts across 35 states/UTs have been covered. Fourth phase of Mission Indradhanush is ongoing in 68 districts of  NE states from 7^th February 2017.  As of now, 505 districts across 35 state/UTs have been covered under various phases of Mission Indradhanush. The fourth phase of Mission Indradhanush began in 182 districts across 18 other states from 7^th April 2017.

·         India has validated Maternal & Neonatal tetanus elimination in May 2015, well before the target date of December 2015.

·         Country achieved MNT Elimination through the strengthening of health systems by innovative programmes like JananiSuraksha Yojana (JSY) and Janani Shishu Suraksha Karayakaram (JSSK) to improve institutional delivery and by strengthening Routine Immunization. 

Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan-PMSMA

·         The program aims to provide assured, comprehensive and quality antenatal care, free of cost, universally to all pregnant women on the 9th of every month. PMSMA guarantees a minimum package of antenatal care services to women in their 2nd / 3rd trimesters of pregnancy at designated government health facilities.

·         The programme follows a systematic approach for engagement with private sector which includes motivating private practitioners to volunteer for the campaign; developing strategies for generating awareness and appealing to the private sector to participate in the Abhiyan at government health facilities.

·         The Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan has been rolled out in all States/ UTs.

·         More than 40 lakh antenatal checkups have been conducted at PMSMA sites for comprehensive services under the programme.

·         PMSMA is conducted at over 11000 health facilities across all State/UTs.

·         Over 3750 volunteers are registered on PMSMA portal across all State/UTs.

·         Over 1400 volunteers have provided services under PMSMA.

·         More than 2.70 lakh high risk pregnancies have been identified under PMSMA.

Six Months Maternity Leave

·         Maternity Benefit Act being amended to enhance maternity leave period for working women from 12 weeks to 26 weeks

Elimination of Diseases(Health)

·         Action Plan to Eliminate Kala Azar and Filariasis by 2017, Leprosy by 2018, Measles by 2020, and Tuberculosis by 2025: Budget 2017-18.

‘Affordable & Quality HealthCare for All’ - Availability of Cheaper Medicines

·         963 essential medicines, including lifesaving drugs, brought under Price Control regime after May 2014, giving the consumer total benefit Rs. 7,570 crores (As on 31^st March, 2017).

Affordable & Accessible Healthcare for Cardiac Patients

·         Cardiac Stents to cost 85% lesser

Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP)

• Total of 1224 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras opened as on 27.04.2017 from 99 in May 2014
• Scheme’s product basket has been expanded to cover more than 600 medicines and 154 surgical aids andconsumablescovering all therapeutic categories

AMRIT(Health)

The AMRIT outlets provide drugs for cancer and cardiovascular diseases along with cardiac implants at a 60 to 90 per cent discount on prevailing market rates.

o   As of now 83 stores have been opened so far

o   Total number of patients serviced till date : 17.97 lakh

o   Total Sale value till date : 71.67 Crores

o   Total MRP Value to the patients till date : 175.23 Crores

o   Total saving to the Patients till date : 103.55 Crores

Kayakalp

·         Kayakalp awards have been launched to promote cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in public health facilities. Under this initiative awards and commendation certificates are given to public healthcare facilities that show exemplary performance meeting standards of protocols of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control.

·         In 2015-16 the Kayakalp awards was implemented for District hospitals. In 2016-17 the same has been extended to CHCs and PHCs. To motivate, sustain and improve performance in facilities that score over 70%, but do not make it to the list of top two/one in a year, a Certificate of Commendation plus cash award is given.

·         In 2015-16, 84 District Hospitals have been given awards including commendations, in 2016-17, 218 hospitals are the winners including commendations.

National Dialysis Service Program

·         Support is being provided to all States for provision of free dialysis services for poor. Guidelines for dialysis services in District Hospitals in PPP mode have been shared with States/UTs.

·         Under this, every facility will have 6 dialysis machines and will be extended up to 10 machines per facility.

·         So far, 1,069 Dialysis Units, 2,319 Dialysis Machines have been made operational.

·         1,06,717 patients have availed of services and 11,04,118 dialysis sessions have been held.

New Health Protection Scheme

·         The Government of India has proposed to launch a new improved health care scheme viz. National Health Protection Scheme which is under finalization that envisages health cover of up to Rs. 1.0 lakh per family for poor and economically weak families.

·         For senior citizens of aged 60 years and above in this category, there is an additional top-up package up to Rs. 30,000. The senior citizen component has been implemented w.e.f. 01.04.2016.

International Yoga Day

·         Promoting Yoga worldwide and at home.

·         Observed   every year on 21^st June.

·         In Chandigarh in 2016.

• Inscribed in the list of intangible cultural heritage of Humanity in the UNESCO

·         Included in sports infrastructure and equipment of universities & colleges and also included as part of physical activity in all the schools

APNA GHAR APNI CHHAT - PRADHAN MANTRI AWAS YOJNA

·         To meet the objective of Housing for All by 2022, after 75 years of independence.

• As against the initial scheme which provided loans of up to Rs 6 lakh at a subsidized rate of 6.5 per cent, now, housing loans of up to Rs 9 lakh and Rs 12 lakh will get interest subvention of 4 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna- Urban (UD)

• PMAY launched by PM on 25^th June 2015
• Aim is to construct 2 crore affordable houses for the poor in urban areas over the span of seven years span till 2022
• 2508 cities in 26 states identified for providing affordable houses to the urban poor.
• 17.68 lakhs houses sanctioned for financing
• 4.66 lakhs houses built from 2014-17
• Annually, number of houses built between 2014-17 have almost doubled to 1.55 Lakh per year during 2014-17 as against 80,000 per year during 2004-14

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna - Gramin (RD)

·         Foundation stone laid by the Prime Minister in Naya Raipur on 21st February,2016.

·         To provide financial assistance for construction of pucca house to all houseless and households living in dilapidated houses.

·         Aim is to construct 1 crore affordable houses for the poor in rural areas over the next three years till 2019.

Smart City Mission (UD)

·         Launched on 25^th June, 2015.

• Innovation and meritocracy in the project by inviting cities to participate in an open competition, instead of handpicking them opaquely
• Total Winning Proposals: 60
• Total Urban Population Impacted - 7.2 Cr

·         About 150 projects in 20 cities with an investment of about Rs. 1,600 cr are close to completion.

Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission (RD)

• Launched by Prime Minister in Naya Raipur on 21st February, 2016.
• Aim is to reduce migration, rural –urban divide and stimulate skill development.
• 300 RURBAN Clusters to be developed with an investment of Rs 5,100 crore in three years.
• 100 clusters to be taken up this year.

VILLAGE ROADS- PRADAHAN MANTRI GRAM SADAK YOJANA

·         113 km of roads constructed per day during 2014-17 against the average of 73.5 km during 2011 to 2014 under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana,

·         Target of connecting the remaining 65,000 habitations advanced from 2022 to 2019

·         Construction of 2.23 lakh km of roads to be done.

• 3,175 kms of roads constructed in 2016-17 with green technologies like cold cold-mix, fly ash, jute etc. as compared to 2,634 kms in 2014-16 & less than 100 kms in 2013-14
• “Meri Sadak” mobile app bringing in transparency and citizen engagement in registering of complaints regarding quality of construction and pace of construction
• Space Technology for monitoring of PMGSY roads in 10 districts of 5 States i.e. Assam, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Odisha, of which 242 PMGSY roads completed
• 16 States have notified and have started operationalizing a “Rural Roads Maintenance Policy”

ROADS & HIGHWAYS   

·         Target of road construction substantially enhanced

·         Highest ever allocation for roads and railways.

·         Budget allocation for National Highways increased from Rs57,976 crores in BE 2016-17 to Rs 64,900 crores in 2017-18 

·         2,000 kms of coastal connectivity roads have been identified for construction and development 

·         Total length of roads, including those under PMGSY, built from 2014-15 till the current year is about 1,40,000kms which is significantly higher than previous three years 

·         National Highway Network expanded from 91287 km in 2013-14 to 97991 Km in 2014-15to 101010 Km in 2015-16 to 114158 kms in 2016-17

·         India’s highest ever number of new Highway kilometers awarded in 2016-17

·         Number of Highways Kilometers awarded went up from 14879 Kms in 2011-14 to 34018 Kms. In 2014-17

·         Total Length of roads constructed has gone up from 4410 kms in 2014-15 to 8231 Kms. in 2016-17.

·         India’s Longest Road Tunnel in Jammu opens for public.

• Speed of construction: 19 kms per day in 2016-17 (Till Feb 2017) against 12 kms per day in 2013-14
• E-Tolling: Over 4 lakh FASTags issued till March 2017.

New Initiatives

·         Bharatmala: National Highways to connect coastal/ border areas, pilgrimage sites and district headquarters

·         Setu Bharatam program for building bridges for safe and seamless travel on National Highways.

·         The aim is to make National Highways free of railway level crossings by 2019 by building Railway Over Bridges/ Under Passes.1500 old and worn down bridges to be improved by replacement/widening/strengthening.

·         208 Railway Over bridges/Under Bridges to be constructed with an outlay of Rs 20 800 Cr

·         1000 km of Expressways along High Density Corridors 

·         Passenger bus service between India and Bangladesh- Bus services on Guwahati-Shillong-Dhaka route and Kolkata- Agartala via Dhaka route flagged off by Prime Ministers of both countries at Dhaka on 06. June 2015

·         BS IV Compliance for 4 wheelers- from 1^st April 2017.

·         Advancing BS –VI Norms to1.April .2020 instead of the earlier target date of April 2021, bypassing BSV norms

·         Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill 2016 passed by Loksabha. It addresses road safety issues and paves way for reforms in public transport to improve road safety.

·         Identification and rectification of road accident black spots to improve road safety.

RAILWAYS

·         New Metro rail projects for Nagpur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad

·         Modernization of 400 major stations.

·         Redevelopment of railway stations on 'as is where is' basis- 7 station already being redeveloped Habibganj (Bhopal), AnandVihar (Delhi), Bijwasan (Delhi), Shivajinagar (Pune), Chandigharh, Surat and Gandhi Nagar.

·         12 New Rail project worth Rs.26831 Crore approved for completion by 2018-20.

·         Wi-Fi on railway stations, passenger helpline, security helpline, paperless unreserved ticketing, e catering, mobile security app and CCTV cameras for safety of women etc.

·         Wi-Fi launched at 74 stations with a plan to extend it to 100 Stations and to 400 stations by 2018

·         100% FDI allowed in Railways

·         First Bullet Train in the country on the Mumbai-Ahmadabad route as part of the Diamond Quadrilateral Network of High Speed Rail

·         Formation of Joint Venture Companies with State Governments to mobilize resources for undertaking various rail infrastructure projects in the State

·         Electric and Diesel locomotive factories at Madhepura and Marhowara in Bihar

·         North East connectivity – Meghalaya on rail network, Mizoram on broad gauge network

·         Average achievement – 7Km/day in 15-16 vs 4.3 km/day in last 6 years

·         2015-16 investment – double the average of previous 5 years

·         Employed a first-of-its-kind, real time 24x7 public grievance system through Twitter and provided medical, security and other emergency assistance to travelling passengers

·         Preventing agents from booking tickets in bulk

·         Wifi launched at 74 stations with a plan to extend it to 100 Stations and to 400 stations by 2018

·         “Clean My Coach” service launched for cleaning requirements in the coach, by sending SMS to  58888 or booking through app

·         Ticket Booking gets easier: Online ticket booking capacity enhanced more than 7 times from 2,000 to 15,000 per minute.

·         Freight by train: Transporting freight by train is cheaper than doing it by road. 2 Dedicated Freight Corridors to be commissioned by 2019

AIRPORTS

·         UDAN: Udey Desh ka Aam Nagrik launched on 21 October 2016

·         Connectivity for 33 Un served and 12 Underserved airports

·         Flights on these routes to start before September 2017.

·         Flight Journey become easier and Cheap

·         Airports at Bhopal, Indore and Raipur to be declared international airports.

·         Major Airports i.e. IGI Delhi, Kochi and Hyderabad powered by solar energy

·         New Civil Aviation Policy announced

WATER WAYS

·              Central Legislation to declare 106 additional inland waterways as national waterways

·              Only 5 National Waterways in last 30 years. Cheap, fuel efficient and eco-friendly cargo/passenger movement.Reduce congestion in road and rail traffic.

·              Jal Marg Vikas Project between Allahabad and Haldia to cover a distance of 1620 kms, which would enable commercial navigation of at least 1500 ton vessels. This includes Construction of the Multimodal Terminal at Varanasi, Sahibganj and Haldia, new navigational lock at Farakka and provision of Least Assured Depth on the Farakka-Bhagalpur stretch.

SHIPPING

·         Modernization of existing ports and develop new ports

·         New Port Projects: Sagar Port (West Bengal), Colachel Port, (Tamil Nadu), Dahanu Port at Wadhawan in Maharashtra and Dugarajpatnam port

·         India to develop Chabahar port in Iran and make Strategic investment :Loan of US$ 150 million.

·         Sagar Mala project: A strategic and customer-oriented initiative of the Government to modernize Indian ports and promote port led development in the country. More than 400 projects identified, at an investment of Rs. 7 lakh crore. 12 projects taken up in 2014-15 in areas of port modernization, port connectivity, coastal community development and lighthouse tourism development at the cost of Rs.870 crores.

·         43% increase in operating profits of the ports.

·         Turnaround of Shipping Corporation of India from a loss of Rs.349 crores in 2013-14 to profit of Rs.276 in 2014-15 and Rs.437 crore in 2015-16 till Q3.

·         Promoting Ship building and Ship Repair- from 2025 only India- made ships for government purpose.

• NavIC (Navigation Indian Constellation)
• With the successful launch of IRNSS-1G, India joins the elite list of countries with their own satellite navigation system
• NavIC, an independent regional navigation satellite system, designed to provide position information within the Indian region and 1500 km around the Indian mainland
• IRNSS provides two types of services, namely, Standard Positioning Services (SPS) - provided to all users and Restricted Services (RS) - provided to authorized users only.
