Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)

·         Launched by the Prime Minister on 28 August 2014 for financial inclusion.
·         60% bank accounts opened in rural areas (As on 26.04.17)
·         28.44 crore Jan Dhan accounts opened (As on 26.04.2017)
·         Total balance in Jan Dhan accounts = Rs. 64,567 crores (As on 26.04.2017)
·         Over 22 Crore Rupay Cards issued (As on 26.04.2017)
·         Share of zero-balance Jan Dhan accounts dropped to 24% in December 2016 from 73% in December 2014.
·         Over 1.25 lakh bank-mitras appointed by banks
·         2.5 lakh Gram-Dak-Sewaks will function as banking correspondents


JAN SURAKSHA (Finance)


  • Launched by the Prime Minister on 9th May 2015 in Kolkata
  • Covers accidental death risks
  • Around 10 crore people (as 12th April,2017) enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
  • Accident insurance worth Rs. 2 lakhs at just Rs. 12 per annum


  • Launched by the Prime Minister on 9th May 2015 in Kolkata
  • 3.10 crore persons (as on 12th April, 2017) enrolled under PMJJBY.
  • Life insurance worth Rs. 2 lakhs at just Rs. 330 per annum  


  • Launched by the Prime Minister on 9th May 2015 in Kolkata
  • Focus on the unorganized sector
  • Government contribution- 50 percent of beneficiaries’ premium (up to Rs. 1000) for 5 years in new accounts opened before December 31, 2015.
  • As on 21st March, 2017, a total of 46.80 lakh subscribers have been enrolled under APY with a total pension wealth of Rs. 1713.214 crores.

DBT

  • Rs.1.79 Lakh Crores have been disbursed under DBT directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. (as on 28.04.2017)
  • Savings due to DBT by elimination of ghost beneficiaries and middlemen worth Rs. 49,560 Crore over the last three years.
  • 33 crore people receive various subsidies directly into their bank accounts through DBT.
  • 138 Schemes in 27 Ministries/Departments Covered under DBT at present compared to only 34 in March 2015
  • Target is to bring 533 Central payment schemes under DBT by March 31, 2018

PAHAL

Pratyaksh Hanstantrit Labh: Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG consumer (DBTL) scheme

·         Launched in 54 districts on 15.11.2014 and expanded to 622 more districts from 1 January 2015.
  • Direct transfer of subsidy to bank accounts of LPG consumers
  • About 17.13 crore people benefitted till date
  • World’s largest cash transfer program
  • Rs. Rs. 47,410 crore transferred so far as subsidy directly into accounts
  • Subsidy savings of Rs. 22,515 crores from 2014-17


FOOD SECURITY FOR POOR (Food & Public Distribution)

  • National Food Security Act, NFSA extended all over the country
  • 80.50 crore persons now get wheat at Rs. 2/ kg and rice at Rs. 3/ kg. 
  • NFSA launched in 2013 was being implemented only in 11 states in May 2014. 

DEENDAYAL ANTYODAYA YOJANA

  • Over Rs. 16000 crores have been made available to SHGs in the current Financial Year

UJJWALA (Petroleum)

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

  • Scheme for Providing Free LPG connections to Women from BPL Households launched by PM in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh on 1.5.2016
  • To ensure universal cooking gas coverage, empower and protect women’s health, reduce cooking time
  • To create jobs for rural youth in supply chain.
  • 2.07 crore LPG connection provided to BPL Households (As on 5th April) 
  • Scheme spread all over the country, now in 694 districts
  • Target is to provide five core LPG connections in three years during 2016-19).

·         Over Rs 3 lakh Cr spent in rural areas every year for rural poor

MGNREGA

  • Maximum budget allocation 48,000 crore (highest budget in 2017-18)
  • Expenditure in FY 2016-17 so far is Rs. 51,902 crores and is the highest since inception
  • 51.3 lakh works completed so far in FY 2016-17, from an average of 25 to 30 lakh works till FY 2013-14
  • Women participation rose to 56% in FY 2016-17, highest ever participation of women since inception of the program
  • Against the target of 5 lakh ponds, now 10 lakh farm ponds to be completed by March 2017
  • Over 95% wages of MGNREGA laborers being paid through DBT from 37% in 2013-14
  • Geo-MGNREGA implemented in FY 2016-17, nearly 65 Lakh assets geo-tagged and made available in the public domain
·         The shift in focus from fruitless labour to creation of sustainable assets will         make sure not just the labourers, but also the people in these areas benefit

  • Minimum wages have been increased by 42% in both agricultural and non-agricultural sectors This will directly benefit an additional 55 lakh workers.

  • Payment of Bonus (Amendment) Act, 2015, enhances the eligibility limit for payment of bonus from Rs. 10,000 per month to Rs. 21,000 per month
  • Shram Suvidha portal: unique labour identification number allocated, online registration of establishments.
  • Unique Labour Identification number allocated to give permanent identity to labourers. EPFO issued 6.57 crores UAN out of which 2.5 crore have been activated through mobile phones.
  • Amendments in Labour laws to exempt certain industries from returns, labour registration, inspection etc.
  • Amendment in factories Act, 1948 to allow for: night shift for women, increased hours of overtime
  • Apprentices Act, 1961 modified to ensure more apprentices. Stipend linked to minimum wages. 

 RURAL ELECTRIFICATION

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana: (DDUGJY)

  • Scheme launched on 25th July 2015
  • 100% Rural Electrification with reliable, adequate & quality electricity supply and also to provide access to electricity to villages/habitations & households
  • Budget 2017-18 allocation increased by 44% from Rs. 3,350 crores to Rs 4,814 crores. 
  • 13,328 out of 18,452 un-electrified villages electrified as on 28.04.17
  • GARV II App launched for real-time and transparent tracking of the progress in rural household electrification

SURGICAL STRIKES

·         In order to protect Indian borders and put an end to cross border terrorism Indian Army conducted surgical strikes in PoK on 29th September, 2016

  • Surgical Strikes reflect zero tolerance for terror
       On 18th September 2016, terrorists struck at an army camp at Uri and martyred our Jawans. In response:
       Indian Army conducted surgical strikes at several terrorist launch pads to pre-empt infiltration by terrorists.
       Significant casualties were caused to terrorists and those providing support to them.
       Indian army struck a blow to terrorist infrastructure and designs.
       International community reacted overwhelmingly in India’s favour.

ONE RANK ONE PENSION

·       Resolved after four decades & announced by PM
·       As on February 28, 2017, Rs. 4,090.94 crore have been paid towards first installment of OROP arrears to 20,07,090Ex-Servicemen and family pensioners. Further Rs. 2,317.82 crore have also been paid as second installment of arrears to 15,66,486 Ex-Servicemen.

Other Measures for Ex-Servicemen

·         Number of scholarships under Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme has been enhanced from 4000 to 5500 from academic year 2015-16.
·         Marriage Grant for daughter has been enhanced from Rs. 16,000/- to Rs. 50,000/- from April 2016.
·         Web portal has been launched by Kendriya Sainik Board on March 11, 2016 for online process of applications.

EVACUATIONS DURING CRISIS 

·         During 2014, 1,100 persons from Ukraine, 3,750 from Libya and 7,200 from Iraq were evacuated.
·         During 2015, 6,710 persons (4,748 Indians) from Yemen and during 2016, 153 Indians from South Sudan were evacuated.
·         During 2016 from Saudi Arabia, more than 1,500 Indians repatriated following resolution of labour issues

·         Father Alex Prem Kumar & Judith D'Souza released from Afghanistan.
·         Sister Sally- an Indian national from Kerala was rescued from Yemen.
·         Clerics Syed Asif Ali Nizami and his nephew Nazim Ali Nizami return from Pakistan

ASSITANCE TO DROUGHT HIT MAHARASHTRA
·         To help the State of Maharashtra in facing the challenge of its worst ever drought
·         Ministry of Railways took initiative of immediate transportation of water in the drought affected areas of Maharashtra.
§  Immediately arranged 100 tank wagons through its Kota Workshop and dispatched them to Maharashtra
·         Pune Division of Central Railways transported water through a 10 tank wagon goods train using its limited resources and manpower
·         Goods train consisting of 50 wagons was pressed into service
·         More than 6 crore litre water transported by the Railways from Miraj to Latur
·         Railway named these trains as “Jaldoot” to emphasize importance of this crucial endeavour

RESCUING LOST CHILDREN: Ministry of Home affairs with the help of State Governments conducted Operation Muskan in July 2015 and Operation Smile in January 2016

MOBILE APP ‘HIMMAT’ LAUNCHED in January 2015 by Delhi Police to instill confidence in women, to help women in distress and to ensure their safety in Delhi.  This application helps women to raise SOS alert in case of any emergency and the same gets reported along with victim/ caller location in real time at Police Control Room and the nearest PCR Van and local police can be rushed to the spot.
Cabinet approval for Crime and Criminal tracking system
National Emergency Response System launched: 112 can be accessed through mobile, Landline, Internet, SMS etc.
Reservation for women in place: In State Police of 8 States and All Union Territories.
Two more Mahila Battalions raised by CRPF.

·         Launched by PM in on 25th September 2014 to make India the hub of manufacturing.
·         25 sectors identified give a boost to manufacturing sector in India with public and private sector- co-operation. These include automobile, construction, defence manufacturing, electronics, food processing, IT, Oil and Gas, Mining, Pharmaceuticals, Railways, Shipping, Thermal power, etc.
·         Partnership between the Government & Industry has increased.
·         India has moved upward with regard to ease of doing business
·         Foreign investment in India increased by 46% after Make in India
·         Manufacturing Sector: Growth in 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 has been 7.1%, 9.3% and 7.4%, up from 6.1% and 5.3% in 2011-12 and 2012-13. High manufacturing will also provide livelihood to large numbers of people
·         Great Growth in Mobile Manufacturing: 72 new mobile phone manufacturing units have started production in India, creating 1 Lakh direct and 3 lakh indirect jobs. Production of mobile phones in India was 6 Crore units in 2014-15, which increased to 11 Crore units in 2015-16 and is likely to touch 17 Crore units in 2016-17.
·         Promoting Textiles Sector
·         Special Package for Job Creation & Export Promotion in Apparel Sector
·         Expected to create jobs for 1 crore people, mostly women; US$ 30 bn. in exports; and investment worth Rs. 74,000 crores in three years

·         Scholarships for SC/ST students – 3,30,64,900 student benefitted during 2014-15 and 2015-16 by distribution of Rs 7565 Cr (HRD)
·         Under the scheme of Venture Capital Fund, 36 proposals worth Rs. 135.91 Cr have been approved for Scheduled Caste Entrepreneurs.
RESERVATION FOR DIVYANGS UP
·         Reservations for Divyangs in Govt. jobs rose from 3% to 4%.
·         Over 6 lakh Divyang jan have so far benefitted from 4,700 special assistance camps organized across the country since May 2014

ACCESSIBLE INDIA CAMPAIGN
·         Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Government on 3rd December, 2015
·         Objective is to make at least 50 percent of all government buildings in the national capital and all state capitals “fully accessible” for the disabled by July 2018.
·         Similar deadlines have been set to make airports and railway stations accessible to the disabled.
·         Special camps organized for distribution of Aids and Assistive devices to 6 lakh persons with disabilities.
